Brain Supplement Costco Aisle: How to Compare Bottles

Quick answer

A brain supplement Costco shopper can compare bottles with three numbers: cost per daily dose, how many ingredient amounts are printed, and whether the serving matches the dose in a study. We did not check any Costco shelf. We know of no Costco listing for Synaptril.

The short answer01

How do you compare a brain supplement at Costco?

Compare a brain supplement at Costco by dividing the shelf price by the number of daily doses. Then read the Supplement Facts for printed amounts.

A big bottle can look cheap and still cost more per day than a small one. The count on the front is not the count of days.

We did not visit a Costco aisle for this post, so we name no product or price there. The method works for any shelf, and for memory supplements Costco carries now or later.

Our side-by-side of named brands is on Synaptril versus other brain supplements.

Cost math02

What is the real cost per day of a brain supplement?

The real cost per day is the bottle price divided by the days it lasts. Days equal capsules divided by capsules per serving.

Take a bottle of 120 capsules with a serving of 4. It lasts 30 days, not 120. A bottle of 30 capsules with a serving of 1 also lasts 30 days.

Label reading03

What should a store-brand label show?

A good label shows an amount for every ingredient, not only a blend total. Without amounts, you cannot compare a dose to a study.

The law lets makers hide single amounts inside a blend (eCFR, 21 CFR 101.36). Synaptril does this: a 575 mg blend of six ingredients, with no single amounts. We say so plainly on the ingredients page.

  • Serving size and servings per container
  • A number in mg or mcg for each ingredient
  • The "Other ingredients" line, for allergens such as soy
  • A named distributor with a phone or email

Claims04

Does a big-box price mean the bottle is tested?

No. A low price or a trusted store name says nothing about testing or results. FDA does not approve supplements before sale (FDA, Dietary supplements Q and A).

Brain supplements have no proven benefit across the board. The Global Council on Brain Health does not recommend any supplement for brain health (AARP GCBH, Brain health supplements).

Keep taking prescribed medicine

Never stop or change a prescription because of a supplement. Ask a doctor or pharmacist first, since some ingredients interact with medicines.

FAQ05

Brain supplement Costco questions

Is Synaptril sold at Costco?

We know of no Costco listing for Synaptril. The sales page sells it through its own checkout in packs of two, three or six. A shelf bottle claiming to be Synaptril should be checked against the real label before you take it.

Is a bigger bottle always cheaper per day?

No. Count the doses, not the capsules. A bottle of 120 capsules at 4 per serving lasts 30 days, the same as a bottle of 30 capsules at 1 per serving. Price per day is the only fair comparison.

Should I buy the store brand over a named brand?

Judge each bottle on its label, not its name. Look for printed amounts, a clear serving and a named distributor. A store logo does not prove an ingredient works, and neither does a well-known brand name.

Where do I find a brain supplement's serving size?

It sits at the top of the Supplement Facts panel, above the ingredient list. On Synaptril it reads 1 capsule, with 30 servings in the bottle. Some brands list 2 to 4 capsules, so check it before dividing the price.

Does a warehouse return policy cover a supplement I dislike?

That depends on the store, and we have not checked any. Ask at the desk before you buy, and keep the receipt. Synaptril's own promise is a 60-day guarantee on orders from its checkout, per the sales page.

Are bulk supplements safe to store for months?

Only if you keep them as the label says. Synaptril's label asks for a cool, dry place below 30°C (86°F). A hot car or humid bathroom breaks that rule. Check the expiry date before you buy a large bottle.
