Synaptril Ingredients: All 7 Label Lines and What the Blend Can Hold
Synaptril ingredients are magnesium (80 mg, from magnesium glycinate) plus a 575 mg proprietary blend of magnesium glycinate, alpha lipoic acid, butcher's broom root, L-carnitine, turmeric extract and CoQ10. Only the magnesium amount is printed. Because the glycinate likely fills most of the blend, the other five share a small remainder, well below the doses used in studies.

The list01
What are the Synaptril ingredients?
The Synaptril ingredients are seven label lines: one magnesium line and six blend ingredients, all in one vegetable capsule.
The magnesium line reads 80 mg, or 19% of the Daily Value (NIH ODS, Magnesium). It is the only single amount on the bottle. Magnesium glycinate, first in the blend, is the compound that carries that mineral.
The shell is hypromellose, a plant material. Cellulose, magnesium stearate, stearic acid and silicon dioxide help the powder fill evenly and sit outside the blend.

From the Supplement Facts panel on the label. Places 1-6 are the blend, listed from most to least by weight (eCFR, 21 CFR 101.36). The other ingredients (the vegetable capsule, cellulose, magnesium stearate, stearic acid, silicon dioxide) are left out of this count.
Profiles02
What is each Synaptril ingredient known for?
Each Synaptril ingredient has its own research history, and most of it is not about memory.
Alpha lipoic acid is studied mostly for nerve pain in diabetes (Linus Pauling Institute, Lipoic acid). Butcher's broom is a vein herb (MSKCC, Butcher's broom). None is a classic nootropic such as ginkgo, and no supplement is proven to prevent memory decline (NCCIH, Supplements and cognition).

Label order03
Why does the order of the Synaptril blend matter?
The order matters because a blend must list ingredients from most to least by weight. That sets a ceiling on each one.
The rule asks for the total and the order, not single weights (eCFR, 21 CFR 101.36). So the sixth ingredient can weigh at most a sixth of 575 mg, about 96 mg.
| Place | Ingredient | Most it could weigh |
|---|---|---|
| 2 | Alpha lipoic acid | 288 mg |
| 3 | Butcher's broom root extract | 192 mg |
| 4 | L-carnitine | 144 mg |
| 5 | Turmeric extract | 115 mg |
| 6 | Coenzyme Q10 | 96 mg |
Blend math04
How much of each ingredient is in a Synaptril capsule?
The exact amounts are not published. But the 80 mg magnesium line shows that magnesium glycinate fills most of the 575 mg.
Pure magnesium glycinate is about 14% magnesium (Magnesium glycinate, Mg content). Making 80 mg of magnesium takes about 570 mg of it, leaving roughly 8 mg for the rest. In a generous case of a 20% buffered grade, the other five share at most 175 mg.
400 mgmagnesium glycinate, to supply the 80 mg of magnesium printed on the label
175 mgleft for alpha lipoic acid, butcher's broom, L-carnitine, turmeric and CoQ10 together
The capsule's blend weighs 575 mg. Pure magnesium glycinate is about 14% magnesium by weight; buffered versions mixed with magnesium oxide carry more (Magnesium glycinate, Mg content). The 20% case is a generous assumption, not a published figure. The label does not say which form is used, so this is arithmetic on the label, not a lab result.
Arithmetic on the label, not a lab test. The full panel sits on the Synaptril supplement facts page.

How do Synaptril ingredient doses compare with studies?
They are far smaller. Studies used 600 mg of alpha lipoic acid (Linus Pauling Institute, Lipoic acid), 1,500 to 3,000 mg of acetyl-L-carnitine (NIH ODS, Carnitine) and 180 mg of a high-absorption curcumin (Small 2018, Curcumin memory RCT).
Even in the generous case, all five blend ingredients together weigh less than one of those doses.

| Magnesium (as Magnesium Glycinate from proprietary blend) | Magnesium line | 80 mg | RDA 310-420 mg a day from all sources (NIH ODS, Magnesium) (Chen 2024, Magnesium and cognition) | Needed for nerves; no proof extra helps memory |

Safety06
Can the Synaptril ingredients interact with medicines?
Yes. CoQ10 may counteract warfarin (MSKCC, Coenzyme Q10), alpha lipoic acid may lower blood sugar (Linus Pauling Institute, Lipoic acid) and magnesium can block some antibiotics and bone drugs (NIH ODS, Magnesium).
Never stop or change a medicine because of a supplement. Show the bottle to your pharmacist. See Synaptril side effects.
Our read07
Is the Synaptril ingredient list a good one?
It is a clean, fully named list built mostly on magnesium. The other five are too small to match any study.
More on the idea behind it: how Synaptril works.
FAQ08
Synaptril ingredients: questions people ask
What are the six ingredients in Synaptril?
Magnesium glycinate, alpha lipoic acid, butcher's broom root extract, L-carnitine, turmeric extract with 95% curcuminoids and coenzyme Q10. They share a 575 mg blend. A separate line shows the 80 mg of magnesium that the glycinate supplies.
How much of each ingredient is in the Synaptril blend?
The label does not say. It gives only the 575 mg total and the order. Since about 400 to 570 mg is likely magnesium glycinate, the other five share between about 8 mg and 175 mg in total.
Does Synaptril contain phosphatidylserine or rhodiola?
No, neither is on the label. The only actives are magnesium glycinate, alpha lipoic acid, butcher's broom, L-carnitine, turmeric and CoQ10. If an ad says otherwise, trust the bottle.
Is Synaptril gluten free or vegan?
The brand shows gluten-free and vegetarian badges but names no certifier. The shell is plant-based hypromellose. The label never says vegan or gives each ingredient's source, so ask the order desk if it matters.
Why are doses in a proprietary blend not listed?
Federal rules let a blend show only its total weight and its order (eCFR, 21 CFR 101.36). The label does not say why a blend is used. The cost to you: you cannot check any single dose.
Which Synaptril ingredient has the most research?
Carnitine, with a Cochrane review of 16 trials, but those used acetyl-L-carnitine at 1.5 to 3 grams a day and found no important benefit (Cochrane, Acetyl-L-carnitine dementia). Synaptril lists plain L-carnitine in a far smaller amount.
